🌸 Our New Life in Aldershire 🌸

Daisy and Poppy

Hi! It’s us—Daisy and Poppy! We just moved to Aldershire two days ago and everything feels weird and exciting and rainy. Like, really rainy. We haven’t seen the sun yet but we’re hoping it’s just shy.

Our new house is HUGE. Like, way bigger than our old one in Hayward. It’s kind of creaky and smells like old books and pine needles, which we actually love. There’s a fireplace that doesn’t work yet and a staircase that makes funny sounds when you run up it fast (we tested it). There are so many rooms we could probably each have two, but we decided to share one anyway. You know, twins. We need to stay together. It feels safer and cozier that way, especially with all the creaky sounds and echoey hallways.

Our room is painted plain green—not even a single flower! So we fixed that. We put flower stickers all over the walls to make our own garden. There are daisies (of course), poppies (obviously), and some pretend ones we made up like “Twinkleblooms” and “Moonberries.” Now it feels like springtime even when it’s raining outside.

The best part? TREES. So many trees. Our yard is like a secret forest and we’ve already found a mossy log that we named “The Listening Bench” because it’s the perfect place to sit and hear the forest talk. Poppy says it sounds like whispers. Daisy says it sounds like secrets. We sit there and pretend the birds are telling us stories. It’s way better than the tiny patch of grass we had before. We’ve been walking in the forest behind our yard and it’s amazing. There’s moss and mushrooms and twisty trees that look like they’re dancing.

School starts next week and we’re a little nervous. Our big sister met someone named Collin at Pizza Palace when she went to get dinner. He gave her our pizza and said “see you around,” so maybe he’ll be at school too. That would be nice. We hope there’s an art club or a nature club or a library with squishy chairs and maybe a club where you can draw plants or write stories about fairies.

The town is tiny. There’s a strip mall with a grocery store, the pizza place, and a shop that sells crystals and postcards. We want to go to the city soon and see what it’s like. Maybe they have bookstores with cats or museums with secret staircases.

Today we’re going to finish our garden wall and make a map of the forest. So far we’ve named “Whisper Oak,” “Lady Birch,” and “Sir Stumpington.” We might build a fairy house if the rain stops. Or maybe even if it doesn’t.

Okay, that’s all for now. Time to go splash in puddles and look for forest treasure.
Bye from your favorite twin explorers,
🌼 Daisy & 🌸 Poppy
