When I published Flowers and Dreams, Book One of The Némain Trilogy, I thought the hardest part would be writing the book itself.
I spent years building the story. Creating the world. Learning the characters. Rewriting scenes over and over until they finally felt right. Like most writers, I thought that once the book was finished and published, I’d finally be able to breathe a little.
Instead, I discovered an entirely different side of being an author that nobody really talks about enough.
Marketing.
Social media.
Algorithms.
Content creation.
Trying to figure out how to help people discover your story in a world where everyone is constantly scrolling past something.
As an indie author, there isn’t really a guidebook for this part. Most of us are learning as we go, testing things, failing at things, figuring out what works, and trying not to get completely overwhelmed by all of it.
So that’s what I started doing.
Over the last year, while continuing to work on Roses and Nightmares, Book Two of The Némain Trilogy, I’ve also been building everything around the stories themselves.

What started as “posting about my book” slowly became:
- Building ARC reader communities
- Creating BookTok and Instagram content
- Launching my podcast, Between Worlds and Words
- Learning video editing and audience engagement
- Building websites and newsletters
- Connecting with readers and reviewers
- Learning how to market books without losing the heart behind why I wrote them in the first place
Some days it honestly feels like authors wear every possible hat at once.
Writer. Editor. Designer. Content creator. Marketing team. Small business owner. Community builder.
And somehow, we’re expected to juggle all of that while still writing the next book too.
But here’s the thing.
I’ve actually grown to love this part of the process.
Not because it’s easy. It definitely isn’t.
But because it’s allowed me to genuinely connect with readers in ways I never expected.
Through social media, podcasts, ARC groups, and conversations online, I’ve met readers who care deeply about Magnolia’s story in Flowers and Dreams. I’ve connected with fellow indie authors, educators, fantasy readers, creatives, and people who simply love stories that feel emotional and personal.
That connection means everything to me.

I also started my podcast, Between Worlds and Words, because I realized I wanted to talk about more than just writing books. I wanted to talk about the emotions underneath storytelling too.
Identity.
Belonging.
Starting over.
Creativity.
The strange way fictional characters sometimes hold pieces of who we are.
At the same time, I’ve been developing another side of my writing life through The Fantastical Adventures of Guinevere and Merlin, an illustrated fantasy series for younger readers centered around imagination, friendship, and magical discovery.
Both series are very different, but they come from the same place for me: a love of storytelling that feels personal, emotional, and full of wonder.
I’m still learning every day.
Still figuring out how to reach the right readers.
Still trying to balance writing with all the other pieces that come with building an author career in today’s world.
Right now, I’m actively seeking literary representation for both The Némain Trilogy and The Fantastical Adventures of Guinevere and Merlin while continuing to grow the communities around them.
One thing this journey has taught me is that publishing a book is not really the finish line.
In a lot of ways, it’s just the beginning.
If you’ve been following along on this journey, supporting my books, listening to the podcast, joining the ARC communities, or simply cheering me on from the sidelines, thank you.

It means more than you probably realize.

Between Worlds and Words Podcast
Stories don’t come from nowhere, and neither do the people who write them.
Between Worlds and Words is my new podcast where I explore the space between real life and storytelling: the experiences that shape my characters, the emotions hidden beneath fantasy, the realities behind writing, and the complicated moments that quietly become fiction.
From discussions about The Némain Trilogy, Flower Power, The Fantastical Adventures of Guinevere and Merlin, and upcoming nonfiction projects to reflections on identity, belonging, neurodivergence, teaching, creativity, and healing through storytelling, this podcast is a more personal look into the worlds behind the books.
You’ll also find writing updates, behind-the-scenes thoughts, sneak peeks at upcoming releases, and conversations about the very real experiences that inspire the stories I tell.
